Children’s Home Society of Florida and Debra Sweet

July 7th, 2014

Children’s Home Society has helped Thousands of children who are dirty, malnourished and alone.  Since its inception, when children boarded the Orphan Trains near the turn of the 20th Century, desperately hoping to find families. Under the leadership of Reverend D.W. Comstock, Children’s Home Society of Florida was established in Jacksonville on November 17, 1902. With a staff of two, we found homes for 21 children our initial year, operating with a budget of $400. Less than a decade later, Marcus “Daddy” Fagg became State Superintendent, guiding us toward our unwavering leadership in the child welfare arena. The money raised in Brevard County stays in Brevard County!   visit www.chsfl.org for more information.

Debra Sweet is the Director of World Can’t Wait, initiated in 2005 to “drive out the Bush regime” by repudiating its program, forcing it from office through a mass, independent movement and reversing the direction it had launched.  Based in New York City, she leads World Can’t Wait in its continuing efforts to stop the crimes of our government, including the unjust occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan and the torture and detention codes, as well as reversing the fascist direction of U.S. society, from the surveillance state to the criminalization of abortion and immigrants.  Visit http://www.worldcantwait.net/
