Menopause is a natural phase in a woman’s life, yet in the workplace, it remains largely unspoken. This silence affects not just employee well-being but also productivity and workplace culture.
The Hidden Struggles of Menopause at Work
Many women experience menopause during their peak career years, yet symptoms often go unacknowledged.
The data is clear:
Workplace Impact: 13% of women report adverse work outcomes due to menopause, with 11% missing workdays—costing U.S. businesses an estimated $1.8 billion annually. (PubMed)
Career Decisions: One in four women decline leadership roles, one in three reduce workloads, and two in five consider leaving their jobs due to menopause. (SWHR)
Lack of Workplace Support: Only 26% of workplaces provide adequate menopause resources. (SHRM)
Breaking the Silence: The Need for Supportive Workplaces
Cultural taboos and lack of awareness prevent meaningful discussions. But workplaces that prioritize menopause-friendly policies benefit both employees and business outcomes.
Here’s how:
Establish Policies: Acknowledge menopause as a workplace health consideration and provide support frameworks. (Ogletree)
Offer Flexibility: Adjust schedules, allow remote work, and provide additional breaks to help employees manage symptoms while maintaining productivity. (Ogletree)
Educate and Train: Equip managers and employees with menopause awareness training to reduce stigma and promote an inclusive culture. (SWHR)
The VIP Menopause Reset Roadmap: A Solution for Women & Workplaces
To tackle these challenges, the VIP Menopause Reset Roadmap delivers an evidence-based, structured approach that helps women regain control of their health and career:
✔ Personalized Health Strategies: Functional nutrition, movement, and stress management to mitigate menopause symptoms.
✔ Cognitive & Emotional Resilience: Mindset coaching and mental strengthening for improved well-being.
✔ Workplace Integration: Workshops and corporate wellness programs designed to support women at work.
By opening the conversation and implementing meaningful support, we can create menopause-inclusive workplaces where women thrive—not just endure.
Let’s make menopause support the norm, not the exception.
Phoebe Walker, DAMMS CEO
In 2001, while pursuing her heart’s desire of pre-medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mrs. Walker’s educational plans were abruptly derailed with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.
Phoebe has been living with debilitating Multiple Sclerosis since 2001 and has more lesions between her brain and spine than the doctors can count. In 2006, she spent a year blind and completely incapacitated due to the disease. It took everything she had to fight her way back, regaining most of her abilities and eyesight. Fortunately, the disease did not deter her from continuing her educational aspirations.
Today, Phoebe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, a Master of Arts degree in Leadership, and a Life Coaching certification. Her tenacity and hard work culminated in the publication of her undergraduate research on the embryology of a rare and threatened species of fish in a peer-reviewed journal. You can click to see the article under her former name, Gretchen Walker. Click to see article. Additionally, it’s important to note that Mrs. Walker presented this research at an annual science symposium in front of an auditorium filled with academic professionals.
Now, with over 30 years of experience in service, she has guided individuals through life crises, trained and led youth in community service, and worked to raise awareness of various health conditions through charity events.
Additionally, she has over 25 years of experience in public speaking, presenting on personal development at churches, shelters, and public venues. Her talks emphasize overcoming hardships with effective coping mechanisms, provide information on health issues, and motivate individuals to take action for their personal growth, pain management, and living a fulfilling and joyful life.
This journey has helped Phoebe to cultivate her strengths, both academically and personally, rooted in a strong foundation of faith. She has discovered what works for her and developed a guidance style that emphasizes the principles of mindful living.
She continues her life in service through both this nonprofit and her consulting sessions, Consultingwithphoebe.com.
